Hello and I hope I can answer this question for you today.
Unfortunately, your symptoms are consistent with
sciatica, which is when the baby or your uterus presses on the
Sciatic nerve that runs down the back of your legs. This can cause pain and problems walking. Sciatica is difficult to treat- sometimes back support garments can help, and
physiotherapy, and sometimes it will go away by itself when the uterus gets larger and grows above the bowl of the pelvis, relieving the compression.
However, in the meantime there is nothing else that can really be done to treat it, but it will go away after the baby is born. You can safely take Acetominophen or
Paracetamol for pain during
pregnancy.
Prenatal yoga may actually help as the instructor may help teach you stretches that can help decompress the nerve.
I hope this advice and information was helpful. Best wishes for the rest of the pregnancy, Dr. Brown
