What Causes Buttocks Pain While Having Spinal Stenosis?

A couple of weeks ago my daughter granddaughter and I spent several hours shopping for the items she would need in her dorm. I used one of the motorized scooters as I have some back problems and am quite overweight. Extensive walking is difficult for me. Since then I ve had constant pain in my left buttock in the area of, what my yoga instructor calls, my sit upon bone. I do have some spinal stenosis, but have never experienced pain like this or in that specific area. Ibuprophen helps somewhat, but does not last long. Sitting is painful, standing is less painful, but still causes a lot of discomfort. What should my next steps be? What COULD it be? Should I be seen? I was helping her get set up in her dorm room and the 2 1/2 hour drive home was incredibly uncomfortable and I honestly didn t think I would be able to complete the trip. :-(

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that you are suffering from coccyxdynia. It may has been caused by that sudden impact .You can see an orthopedic surgeon.
Its treatments is---
1. Hot sits bath- sitting in a bath tab full of warm water naked exposing coccyx area for 10 minutes in morning and 10 minutes in the evening.
2. Since sitting on the affected area may aggravate the condition, a cushion with a cutout at the back under the coccyx is recommended.
3. Analgesic such as diclofenac is taken for pain relief.
You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.Wishing you good health.Take care.
