What Causes Chalky White Lines On Nails?

I wear artificial nails and lately the one on my left ring finger falls off very often. The real nail underneath looks white and chalky and the skin around the nail is starting to have little white lines in it and look a bit chalky to. What could this mean?

Hello,
Thanks for the query,
You might have developed protein and vitamin deficiency.
These cause slow growth of nails and white discoloration.
Start vitamin B complex daily.
Also take protein supplement.
Egg or soyabean would suffice for you.
A photograph would have helped me in giving a closer diagnosis.
Please meet a dermatologist for exact diagnosis.
