What Causes Cheese Like Discharge From Ears?

my 9yr old daughter has a cottage cheese looking discharge coming out of her ears..i took her to the er the dr. told me from her being in the swimming pool all day the clorine may have turned her ear waax white...i am still concerned ..I have 5 children and never seen anything like it before..what could this be ?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Since when the ear is discharge us coming? Otitis externa, ASOM, ear wax etc may cause continuous ear discharge. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Avoid water entering into ear avoid putting drops into ear. Use water vapor inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day for five days. Please consult your ENT specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly.
