What Causes Chest Pain After Eating Food?

I ate very hot meatloaf that just came out of the oven. I felt intense pain immediately in my chest. This happened about 6 days ago and I still feel pain when I eat or drink...even cool or cold drinks of food. What can I do to heal it? Should I see my PCP for help?

Hello,

You may develop heat induced mucosal damage in the esophagus which may cause pain during swallowing or spasm of the esophagus. Take only liquid diet for a few days, use Mucaine gel two teaspoons before food to relieve pain. Avoid spicy food and alcohol. Avoid overheat or cold food which may lead to nerve endings stimulation and pain. If symptoms not improved, please consult your gastroenterologist he will examine and do an endoscopy and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
