What Causes Chest Pain And High Pulse Rate?
i am 27, weigh 195, and am 5 4 . I have a history of ulcers and endometriosis. I just apent four days in the hospital and they told me I had air in the mediastinum. They ran some tests but never confirmed where it came from. They sent me home and said I just have to wait for my body to absorb the air. I have had minor chest pains for 7 years. Also, about a year ago, my pulse was getting really high(160 to 180). Both times, I had full chest work-ups, and they said everything was okay. I still have problems with both, and now this new thing. Do I need to insist that they continue testing, or is it not a big deal? Thanks for amy help.

Air in the chest can have multiple reasons and you didn't have any symptoms of any serious illness. Chest pain and air in the mediastinum can be due to endometriotic patches over the lungs or pleura. Also, it can also be due to some transient leakage from the surface of lungs. So investigations may not pick it. I gues, your ct scan chest is done, if not you can ask for that. If small amount of air is present, body will absorb it.
For, your tachycardia, is your symptoms are frequent on daily basis, then you can get one holter monitoring done. Also, if less frequent then you can get one ecg done, during the episode, so that we will come to know the exact cause of the same. Also, get one thyroid, hemoglobin levels done.
