What Causes Chest Pain And Shortness Of Breath After Taking Lactaid Milk?

My husband has always had an allergy to milk so I bought him lactaid milk which is lactose free but after he drinks it he starts having chest pains and shortness of breath and feels like he has a lump in his throat. Can this still be a milk allergy even though it s not regular milk? Thanks for your answer in advance.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of your husband being allergic to milk hence you gave him lactose free milk and he developed chest pain, shortness of breath and feels a lump in the throat.
It is not only the lactose that can give allergy or intolerance there are casein and other whey proteins that can give give the allergy to milk or any milk products.
I would advise you to take him to the ER as he needs an injections to ward off the reaction he has developed and to keep him under observations for 24 hours till the milk is flushed out of his system.
