What Causes Chest Pain On The Left Side?

Hi,
I am having chest pain located only on my left side that gets worse when I inhale or exhale. I also am experiencing back pain in the same area that gets worse when I inhale or move my body and back to the right. I have tried looking up symptoms but am unsure what could be causing it.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Possibility of musculoskeletal pain is more likely.
But better to rule out heart diseases first because your pain is more on left side of chest.
So get done ecg, 2d echo and stress test (trade mill test).
If all these are normal then no need to worry for heart diseases.
Do following things for better symptomatic relief in musculoskeletal pain.
1. Avoid heavyweight lifting and strenuous exercise.
2. Avoid movements causing pain. Avoid sudden jerky movements of back and chest.
3. Apply warm water pad on affected areas of chest.
4. Take simple painkiller and muscle relaxant drugs like ibuprofen and thiocolchicoside.
Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
