What Causes Chest Pain While Taking Deep Breath?

Hi doctor, i have a specific chest pain that only happens when i breathe in. It seems to be on the left side of my chest in a specific spot i can point to. The pain doesn t seem to radiate to the shoulder or arm, although i feel a bit of back pain very occasionally. It hurts mostly when i breathe in deep and it s sharp and aching. Also when my posture is bad. I have constant anxiety over heart attacks (i have a history of generalized anxiety and hypochondria) even though the only real factor i have for a heart attack is being overweight. I m fairly young - only 21 years old - but still worried. Is this something i should see someone about?

Pulmonologist 's  Response
thanks for your question

I completely understand your question

in young age Chest pain can be due to
- pleural causes like effusion , which can be catchy and sharp
- gastritis
- lung ailments
- rarely cardiac

you should visit a Pulmonologist who can evaluate the cause of Chet pain by requesting a chest X-ray an ecg and an endoscopy if required

this ll lead to a cause

in my opinion and in my patients I usually follow the same and start them on proton pump inhibitors and an analgesic to relieve the symptoms

thanks
