What Causes Chest Pain, cough And Pain While Breathing?

My 22yo daughter has pneumonia and mono. I had a cough for the last 4-5 weeks. Cough left this week, but a uti developed and left sided chest pain that began during cough remains. It hurts on inspiration mostly right below level of ribs. I ve also had a decreased appetite. Might this be an enlarged spleen - and I might have mono as well?

hello
welcome to hcm
the cause of your chest pain during inspiration might be due to one of the following reasons
(1) PNEUMONITIS i.e infection of the lung tissue

(2) PLEURISY i.e inflammation of the outer covering of lungs

(3) COSTOCHONDRITIS

the immediete line of action for you should be to get these 2 tests done

(1) ECG

(2) XRAY OF CHEST

and send us a scanned copy of your reports or visit a nearby physician who will evaluate your reports...as for your second question, well its HIGHLY UNLIKELY that your symptoms r due to enlarged spleen so rule out that possibility from your mind and relax
take care
