What Causes Chest Tightness And Discomfort In Lying Down?

Just lately I have been awakened around 6.00am with a tightness of the chest, it is uncomfortable to lay on either side, once I am up and about, everything seems back to normal. I have no trouble breathing, nor do I have a cough, just and uncomfortable morning chest tightness.

Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic.

According to the symptoms you have mentioned, in my opinion it seems the chest pain is more likely due to gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).You can try simple measures to reduce the symptoms:

1.Drink plenty of water

2.Avoid oily foodstuffs, caffeine containing products like tea, coffee and aerated drinks.

3.Have light meals at shorter intervals than having heavy meals at long intervals.

4.Fix the timings of your meals especially have food early in the night atleast 1-2 hours before you sleep.Do regular exercise.

5.Quit smoking, alcohol if you consume it

6.I usually suggest antacids like tab.pantoprazole empty stomach in the morning to decrease the acid levels

7.If the symptoms are still not relieved, get an ECG done to rule out any cardiac cause.

Kindly rate my answer if you find it useful.Feel free to ask any further doubts.Take care.
