Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Chronic Dry Cough After Taking Lyrica 75mg?
I began taking Lyrica 75mg about a week ago. I am a 60 year old male, 250#. I am taking this for nerve pain which originates in my cervical area and travels down my left arm. By pain I mean numbness and tingling which is believed to be from a compressed disk (#4 I believe) in my neck. The last couple of days I have developed a persistent dry cough. Could this be from the Lyrica? I used to get a similar cough using Enaparil, so I was taken off of that and the cough went away. Thank you.
Enalpril, an Ace-inhibitor(ACEI) can cause dry cough. Lyrica (pregabalin),commonly used for treatment of peripheral neuropathy can very rarely cause cough but with mucus production.
