What Causes Chronic Fatigue While Having Hypothyroidism?
I am hyprothyroid on medications for at least 45 years. Just had lads done tsh1.82, T4 0.8 and T3.4...so called normal. However I am so tired even when I get up. Can nap anytime of the day. Brain fog. Depressed, on medication for that. Anxiety.. what can I do.??
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Depression, sleepiness, brain fog are important symptoms of hypothyroidism. You mention that you are on medication for hypothyroidism and your actual thyroid tests are normal. If you were my patient,i will suggest to repeat the TSH test in another certified lab. This is the only necessary test in pacients on thyroid hormone replacement therapy and it is very important to understand if you are taking the right dosis or you need dosis adjustement of Levothyroxine. If the TSH level will result normal, than i can say that your actual symptoms can not be attributed to Hypothyroidism. In this case i suggest to consult a psychiatrist because in my opinion it can be Depression that cause all your symptoms.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
