What Causes Chronic Sinusitis And Mouth Sores Despite Taking Antibiotics?

My wife (62 years old) suffered from a staph infection last year that lasted for ten months. Her doctor kept trying various antibiotics including nasal spray. The infection finally went away but she continues to suffer from chronic sinusitis, drainage causing her to throw up every other day or so, and sores on her mouth and throat. We are losing faith in our doctor and ENT specialist. Is it time to get a second opinion, and if so, what type of specialist should we look for/

Hello

Sinusitis is a difficult condition to treat especially in elder patients, this becomes even more difficult in patients with diabetes. The best thing would be to start on steroid nasal sprays, these are harmless and have very little side effects. You should also ask her to take steam inhalation 2-3 times a day as this will reduce the inflammation. Please discuss this with your doctor.
Thanks
