Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a clear mucus in my stool for over a year, no blood. It comes and goes but is there most of the time. I had a colonoscopy 1 year ago and mentioned it to the Dr. that performed the procedure. Colonoscopy came back clean with one polyp removed ( negative for cancer) but sighted mild diverticulosis not diverticulitis . I've tried everything and can't get rid of it

What Causes Clear Mucus In My Stools?
Hello, A clear mucus for a long period of time indicates imbalance with gut flora mechanics and goblet cells of the intestine. A colon biopsy at this stage is mandatory for tissue diagnosis and cure accordingly. Liquids intake in more quantity, high fiber diet and avoidance of oily stuff from the diet helps greatly. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
