What Causes Clicking Sound In Knee When Extended A Week After Injury?

Hi im 21 years old very active hockey player and heavy weight lifter. about 6 weeks ago i had a very small tear in my left knee meniscus on the periphery of the posterior horn. I haven't experienced pain in a week of going back to activity but now there is a constant clicking or grating sound in the knee when fully extended. what could this be and is it safe to play hockey on if there is clicking?
