What Causes Cloudy Spot On The Ribs With Pain?

I had a cloudy spot on a chest xray in the same area that I have been having pain. I had a leaned against a suv, back door, while loading groceries. It immediately felt like someone shot me, 14 days later, it still hurts to bend, breate deep, or laugh. So, my doc had me get the xray, especially since I have osteopenia. The radiologist says clear lungs, heart good, and osseous structures grossly unremarkable. The xray technician let me look at the xray after she took it, and she pointed out the haziness, cloudiness in the bottom to Right ribs, exactly where my pain is. The others were all clear. It seem too uncanny to me .... any comments? I am a nurse at a large teaching hospital in the south, where the xray was taken. Thank you ....

Thank you for your question in HCM. In my opinion this is rib fracture due to your trauma from the car. Since you have osteopenia your bones are easy to get fractures. So minimal trauma can cause fracture. And rib s are very flat and easy to fracture in osteopenia. The pain you are having, trauma history, tenderness on local site all favours rib fracture. After few days the fracture starts healing and develop callus formation which can be seen on chest x ray as rounded opacity. So your x ray finding may be due to this only.
