What Causes Clumpy Vaginal Discharge During Pregnancy?
I know discharge is normal during pregnancy but I've been having discharge with "bits" in it. It looks a bit like cottage cheese and yesterday I had so much it flowed out like someone turned on a tap. It doesn't smell unpleasant but I am concerned. I had some itching in the first three months (I am now five months pregnant) but I used some canesten cream and it is fine now. Any ideas? Thank you. Sarah
Hi, From your description, it appears as though you are suffering from vaginitis, perhaps moniliasis. Such infections are common during pregnancy as the vaginal pH favors lodging of parasites. In the current scenario, please get a vaginal swab for sensitivity tests and use medication accordingly as advised by your consultant. Also, keep an eye for leak of membranes as spread of infection to the membranes can often lead to leaks. This can be detected through nitrazine paper tests. Hope this helps.
