What Causes Cluster Of Red Bumps On Her Inner Forearm?
Hi. My friend woke up today with a cluster of red bumps on her inner forearm. The bumps look like bug bites but with a scab in the middle. Some are clustered together and others solo. Could that be bed bugs? We just stayed at venetian in Vegas. She said they burn but not itchy.
Hi. As per your case history your friend may be having either bug bite or herpes simplex infection.
As per your complaints of burning more than itching, grouped skin lesions and scabs my probable diagnosis is herpes infection.
My treatment advice - 1. It is infectious. So tell him/her to maintain isolation for 3-4 days. 2. Apply a antibiotic cream like fusiderm once daily and antiviral ointment like acyclovir once daily. 3. Oral acyclovir and oral NSAID are other treatment options taken after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr.harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
