I think I have ringworm on my chin. There are several small bumps in one area, about the size of a time. It doesn t itch much. At first I thought it was a few pimples, but I don t break out much and the fact that it was all clustered together and the white heads just little dots, had me questioning. I went to a new dermatologist and he said it was most likely acne and tried to sell me a $80 retinal cream (even though I told him I normally don t have acne). He then said that a cortisone shot would clear it up quickly. That was 5 days ago and if anything it has gotten worse. I ve scoured the web and the only thing it looks like is ringworm. I have been using tea tree oil and that seems to dry it out. I m HOPING that it will go away quickly as it is on my face and not too attractive. 1. Could the cortizone shot have made it worse? 2. Should I see a general practice doctor to get a diagnosis or wait a few more days and see how it does? 3. I also heard about using apple cider vinegar as that would get rid of it quickly, but I have sensitive skin. Could that cause scarring or damage? Is it harsh? Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my questions!!
Hello, Thanks for the query, You might have developed fungal infection. Usually fungal infections are itchy and recurrent. Please get a KOH mount done, This can confirm the fungal etiology. Treatment can be with oral antifungals as well as with topical antifungals. Treatment must be continued for at least a month to prevent recurrance. Please meet a dermatologist for exact diagnosis.
