What Causes Cognitive Impairment And Neurodegenerative Disease?
hello my grandmother is diagnosed with cognitive impairment and neurodegenerative disease.... how long of a life span does it sound like she has left she also has dementia and went from walking and talking one day had a fall hit her head hard they put two staples in but had to pick out fragments of her skull before stapling the wound she also has a vp shunt because of hydrocephalus put in two yrs ago but as I was saying before the fall she was doing well enough cleaning and talking but like I was saying after the fall she had about two weeks later she all the sudden could walk or stand has and cant speak a sentence some days she not she who we are until we tell her now these are her new diagnosis how much time do I have left with her and how did this happen the fall possibly
Hello, Predicting life span is very difficult. It really depends upon what is causing her declines in function. If it is her kidneys then it could be weeks to months. If it is her heart it could be at any unpredictable time. In many cases of neurodegenerative disease it is really impossible to predict life span. Regards
