I have been recommended to an allergist after mentioning to my doctor that after I run outside in the cold, I have a severe reaction with my arms & hands itching intensely. There also have welts appear. He mentioned cold induced urticaria. I forgot to tell him that I have problems with my arms and hands going numb all the time. Is this something to be concerned about?
I have noted your history and concerns and feel that what you have is Cholinergic Urticaria. As distinct from other conditions, this develops at the time when an individual takes up some exercise, spicy foods, undergoes anger or an intense emotion, or physically is taking up strenuous exercise, the last one seems to be the trigger in your case.
Most patients respond best to Hydroxyzine, an anti allergic which is the best choice for the aid condition.
In addition one need to identify the triggers and avoid them to prevent future episode. It is hoped that these suggestions will help you take up appropriate decision and you will be well. Best wishes!
