My 62 years old brother is having symptoms of confusion, difficulty finding the right works, spelling and trouble following conversations. He started out the week with some achiness and thinks he has the flu but I am concerned it is more than that.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Confusion is a common problem in persons over 65 years of age. The decline in normal cognitive ability may be acute, or it may be chronic and progressive. In older persons, confusion is most likely to be a symptom of delirium or dementia, although it can also be associated with psychosis and affective disorders, specifically major depression.
Please consult your neuro physician, he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
