What Causes Confusion And Slurred Speech While On Glipizide And Januvia?

My father is on glipizide 10 mg and januvia 100 mg, Dioxin 125 mg. and Megestrol Acetate 40 MG. He is confused, slurring speech, rapid weight loss, tremors, excessive tiredness and weakness, no appetite, unable to walk with out assistance and now needs to wear a diaper at all times. He has lost 20 lbs in 1 month. Doctors cant find anything wrong with him. They have done blood work, CT scans, etc. I am at a loss. I ffel like he should come off of the Januvia.

Hello and welcome to Ask a doctor service. I have read through your question and here is my opinion. I don't think his symptoms are being caused by Januvia as it is antidiabetic and helps to keep the blood sugar under control. The symptoms you have mentioned point towards a neurological disorder. I would advise you to get him assessed by a neurologist. He will do a neurological examination and may also advise an MRI. Alzheimer's and stroke can lead to this kind of symptoms.
