What Causes Congestion In Sinus Area With Thick Discharge Streaked With Blood?
Trying to decide if I should visit my doctor. Went last week because of bloody nose. Had no fever. Some congestion in sinus area. This weekend developed fever 99.4 to 100.6. Sinus are feels very full and lots of pressure. Started taking tylenol and decongestant. Helps some. Feeling very tired. When blowing nose has some thick discharge, sometimes streaked with blood. Is it just a cold or more than that? Does it warrant a visit to my md?
Hi Welcome to healthcare magic. I had gone through your question. This could be due to sinus infection. I recommend the following. 1) A course of antibiotics. 2) Oxymetazoline nasal drops to relieve nasal congestion and bleed. Don't use this drops continuously for more than 6 days. 3) antihistamine at night. 4) Steam inhalation to promote sinus ventilation and improve sinus drainage. 5) Avoid blowing your nose hard. Especially when nose is congested it can lead to bleed. 6) If head ache take paracetamol for relief.
Nothing to worry. You will be fine. Hope I have answered your question, If you have any questions, I am happy to help you.
Wish you a good health.
