What Causes Constant Pain In The Upper Thighs?

I have stabbing, burning pain in my upper right thigh. It used to be occasional, but now it s constant and very painful. Sometimes takes my breath away. If I stand in one spot for long periods of time (30 minutes), it feels like there s a turnicut where my leg joins my body and I feel like I might fall. Walking is no problem at all, but it s bad when I m shopping where I walk a bit, then stand a while, then walk and stand, etc. I recently had an xray of my back and my doctor said it looks fine. Now they want an EMG test. I ve recently started Neurontin, but it makes me drowsy and my ankles swell, so I only take one a day. That helps the stabbing, but the burning is still there.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Most probably it will be a neuropathic pain like in sciatica.

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Tramadol or Aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist it is better to consult an orthopedician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
