What Causes Constipation After A Back Injury?

Six weeks ago I had a bad fall when I fell backwards onto my sidewalk. I didn t break any bones and cat-scan pictures of my chest brain and other body parts are okay but I am having trouble having a bowel movement. I defecate halfway and cannot get the rest out. It is not just constipation. Even with a laxative there always seems to be more inside that refuses to come out. the only pain I had after the fall was inside my right upper side. It lasted for a week then was gone.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Dear how severe is your back injury?? is there any trauma to spinal cord??Since when you're suffering from above problem??
Spinal injury will lead to decreased bowel movements which in turn lead to constipation. Take high fibre diet and do regular exercise, use syrup Lactulose 30ml at night for five days.
If symptoms not improved, please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care.
