Internal Medicine Specialist, Dr. Malik's Response
Hello,
A possible cause is a kidney stone.
He might have kidney stones. A kidney stone may be asymptomatic until it moves down into the ureters. In some patients, it passes through the urinary system and comes out while urinating. The passing of kidney stones is very painful and may accompany with bloody discharge from the urethra.
Your husband might still have a kidney stone. A blood test can not show kidney stones. He may need urinalysis and computed tomography (CT) scan to confirm the diagnosis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Malik
