Hello,
Patients with Crohn's disease are more prone to develop
diarrhea rather than
constipation.
Crohn's Disease patients if having constipation think about possibility of stricture. They usually avoid high fiber diet due to loose stools so you can try high fiber diet like beans shredded wheat, bran muffins, whole wheat breads cooked vegetables, such as squash, sweet potatoes, spinach, and peas, fruit, such as raspberries and prunes et cetera.
If you are allergic to any fiber you can avoid it. You also can use bulk forming agents like Citrucel, Fibercon,
Metamucil, Benefiber et cetera. Drink plenty of water and also you can try
milk of magnesia, Miralax and
sorbitol. Stool softeners also useful, Docusate it and bowel stimulants et cetera.
Do regular exercise and avoid alcohol and smoking. If still not improved, please consult your gastroenterologist, he/she will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
