What Causes Continuous Brown Vaginal Discharge?

Hi Im 19 wks prego, and have had brown spotting for about 3 wks now, my doc said not to have sex for a week after it stops, but it hasnt stoped, he said not to worry to much, but to call him if i get any bleeding! why is this brown spotting not going away???
