General & Family Physician, Dr. Kampana's Response
Hi, Welcome to healthcare magic. Thank you for your question.
Continuous joint and muscle pains are one of the common problems with old age. This can be due to various reasons depending on which joint is involved. If shoulder/ knee/ hip joints are involved it can be due to osteoarthritis which is due to wear and tear of joints. If smaller joints such as fingers and wrist joints are involved it maybe due to underlying immune disorder like rheumatic arthritis. Your father's symptom can also be due to prolonged immobility or reduced physical activities. I would suggest you to take your father to your family doctor for further evaluation and physiotherapy/exercises.
I hope this answers your query. Good luck.
With best regards,
