What Causes Cough And Shortness Of Breath While Being On Methotrexate?
i m on methotrexate and cannot shift a viral infection I ve had now for over a week. when I lie down, it feels like a trickle of fluid running inside. when I sit propped up, I cough and feel short of breath. I also get a feeling like I am being stabbed in the chest with lots of needles. painful sometimes to near tears.
Persistent coughing can be associated with chest pain.
There are cough mixtures that you can use that have no known interactions with the methotrexate. Most cough mixtures would contain a cough suppressant (Eg dextromethorphan) and a decongestants.
These would not interaction with the methotrexate.
You can try using one of these cough syrups to see if there is any improvement in symptoms.
I hope this helps
