What Causes Cough With Dysphagia And Thick Phlegm?

I m 33 years old 176 pounds non smoker. About 3 months ago I had a bad cold that lasted about a week. After that I felt fine for about a week now I ve been coughing all the time it always seems like there is something stuck in the back of my throat. I m always having to clear my throat. I cough up thick jelly like phlegm usually clear with thick string like sticky yellowish stuff. What could it be and how can I get over this? Thank you for your time. Joan

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms are suggestive of a local throat infection. For this reason, I would recommend consulting with your attending physician for a physical exam and a throat discharge bacterial culture. Antibiotics may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
