I have a cough that produces phlem. Had it now for 4 + weeks. Have basically lost my voice for the past 3 weeks. Went to dr last week and have just completed antibiotic azitromen or something like that. 2 pills the first day and 1 the next 4. I am also using an inhaler for asthma. not sure what it is though. I actually do not feel too bad compared to the previous 4 weeks. Shall I just continue on like this for another week or so?
Hi. Thanks for your query. With a long history of 4 weeks and taking proper medicines, if there is no positive effect, I think you should go for investigations. I would advise investigations of blood, urine, the phlegm, X-ray chest and PFT to get a proper diagnosis and then carry on the further treatment under the care of an ENT surgeon. He will also do Endoscopy to see why have you lost the voice and add on proper treatment. In addition you should take a proper steam inhalations, Bedrest and multivitamins.
