What Causes Coughing Up Blood?

Hi. My friend just went to the Hospital, and I need to know what s wrong with her. She said she s been coughing up blood and she blacked out while on the phone with another friend of ours. I did a google search (not very reliable, I know) and it said it could be cancer. Cancer!? Can you please tell me what may be wrong with her?

hello,
there can be numerous reasons for coughing up of blood.
cancer is also one of them, but highly unlikely.
problems associated with respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts like any injury, tears, perforations can cause coughing up of blood.
its not a very good sign
do visit a doctor and get correctly diagnosed.
