What Causes Coughing Up Of Blood?

MY bother dranks a lot . HARD stuff in bars and home. also smokes weed. I told him to stop. BUT want listen. HE is bleeding from his mouth, and spiting up blood. HE is 50 years old and worrys my mother to dealth. can you tell me his problem DOCTOR. LEON.

Hello
You mentioned that your brother is spiting blood and and also bleeding from mouth after the use of hard stuff in bars and also used weed .
These symptoms may be due to these reasons , these include.
1 Hemoptysis i.e. blood intermingled with spit or due to cough with expectoration is known as hemoptysis. Most common cause in your brother case may be due to tuberculosis . Diagnosis can be confirmed by X ray chest as well sputum examination , blood examination for C BC , E S R .
2 Hematemesis , if blood is from the stomach through mouth we call it hemetemesis . In your brother case this may be the one such reason because of acute gastritis or gastric ulcer . Diagnosis can be confirmed by ENdoscopy .
3 Blood dyscrasia is another such cause . But in your brother case deal as I mentioned above for reason no 1 & 2 .
However there are so many other reasons of such cases but you didn't mention complete history.
So in my opinion consult a pulmonologist and get his opinion at earliest . Because blood fro mouth ( from lung or stomach ) is concerning .
