What Causes Coughing With Vomiting Sensations And Breathlessness?

I got over bronchitis a few weeks ago.The cough had subsided but I m noticing that I am randomly having these coughing spells that last a few minutes that causes me to gag as if I m going to throw up, but with nothing coming up. I m also feeling like I can t breath and gasping for air. These episodes usually last for a few minutes then go away ending with me trying to catch my breath and clear my throat. What could this be?

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
In my opinion you are having bronchitis and the acute episodes you are having are due to bronchospasm because of bronchitis.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done
1. Clinical examination of respiratory system.
2. Chest x ray.
3. PFT ( pulmonary function test ).
Chest x ray is needed to rule out lung infection.
PFT is needed to diagnose bronchitis.
It will also tell you about severity of the disease.
And treatment of bronchitis is based on severity only.
So consult pulmonologist and discuss all these and start appropriate treatment.
You may need inhaled bronchodilators and antihistamine drug.
