Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Crackling Sound At The Hip Joint While Doing Squats?
While working out yesterday (doing sqats) I heard a popping noise in my left hip. My hips randomly pop/crack at the joint but do not usually cause pain. I am having some pain with movement, but it does not hurt when I walk. Shoulld I be concerned? Are there any home redemies?
In some cases, an audible snapping or popping noise as the tendon at the hip flexor crease moves from flexion (knee toward waist) to extension (knee down and hip joint straightened). It can be painless. I suggest to Lie on your side, with your affected leg on top and your head propped on a pillow. Keep your feet and knees together and your knees bent. Raise your top knee, but keep your feet together. Do not let your hips roll back. Hold for 6 seconds. Slowly lower your knee back down. Repeat 8 to 12 times. There is nothing to worry.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

The symptoms can be related to rheumatoid arthritis. I suggest to do an X-ray of the hips and rheumatoid arthritis level. Meanwhile, I suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen in case of pain.
