What Causes Cramping, Gas And Loose Stools After Having Food?
About a month ago, my husband got up one morning and said he had been up all night with frequent loose stools and cramping, gas. After about two weeks I started having the same symptoms. It does not seem to be as severe as long as we keep our stomachs empty but as soon as we eat, it begins again within an hour or so. My husband saw his gastro and took a stool sample to the lab. He was told that it was negative but I simp0ly don t believe that is accurate. There is something inside that needs to be addressed and treated with both of us or this will never go away. Any clues. We are 62 and 63 and have not traveled recently.
The most common causes for such symptoms are either infective or inflammatory. If stool examination report does not show any signs of infection then it must be inflammatory. Excess acid formation is leading cause of inflammation. So best treatment is to avoid triggering factors for acid formation like 8hours sound sleep, meals on time, avoid constipation, stress management and increase fiber diet in both meals. You can see your family physician who can prescribe you a acid neutralising medicines which will be helpful for initial stages.
