What Causes Cramping When On Levest Contraceptive Pill?

Hi, I m on Levest contraceptive pill and have been for the last two and a half years, as well as being in the same relationship for almost 3 years. I had sex around the time of my ovulation , and now currently experiencing some rather uncomfortable cramping but my period is not due for another week when I would usually get the usual cramps. My cycle is regular. Does this mean anything or is my body just playing mind tricks on me?

Hello,

Some women do complain of cramping as a sign of side effects of birth control pills. It is temporary and hormone related. Sometimes, during ovulation you may experience mild cramping pain, especially when you are stressed up, dehydrated or when you have not taken adequate sleep.

You may not experience cramping pain due to ovulation every month. No worries, avoid anxiety and take rest. You can take antacids or Spasmol (spasmo proxyvon), one SOS for relief.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
