What Causes Cramps In The Feet And Fluid Retention In The Ankles?

I have been having a lot of trouble with painful cramps in my feet, and the last week or two I’ve been retaining water in my ankles and lower part of my legs. Do you thin’ these two issues are related and caused by one problem or two things going on?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There might be some ligament sprains or contusion. As of now you can take analgesics like Ibuprofen or Diclofenac for pain. Apply ice packs. If symptoms persist, better to take an MRI scan to look for any tendon involvement.

Wishing you good health.

Thanks.
