A crumbling stomach all the time and when it happen I have a build up of flatulance. I am on tegrodol for a nerve drug and OxyContin but never had issue with that. I don t have an issue with anything else but this stomach crumbles wether I eat or not. Please help. Lauren
Hi. Thanks for your query. The commonest reasons for crumbling of the abdomen and flatulence are: Intestinal infection and imbalance between the normal commensals of the intestines and the bad bacteria. The overgrowth of the bacteria causing gas productions and causing rumbling all the time. Aerophagia meaning inadvertent swallowing of the air. This in turn can be due to stress and anxiety. Intestinal obstruction and so on. I would advise you the following: X-ray of the abdomen in standing position. Ultrasonography to find stones and other conditions. CT scan of the abdomen. Examination of the stool and blood. A course of an antibiotic, metronidazole, anti-depressant if required and probiotics along with activated charcoal and enzyme preparations.
