What Causes Crunching/crackling Noise In Ear While Having Hole In Eardrum?

I have a crunching, crackling noise in my right ear for over a week. I have a hole in my ear drum from a long time ago. Last October I had something similar to walking pneumonia coughing up phlegm. I didn t take anything and still have something similar to mucus when I lie down to sleep and spit out in the morning. Do I see an otolaryngologist?

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello,

Usually, ear noise is directly related to the ear problems not the lungs itself. I recommend you to see an ORL specialist to exclude them. For the lung secretions you can take Acetylcysteine to help take them out safely.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jolanda Nikolla, Pulmonologist
