What Causes Cylindrical Power In Eyes?

My son has been diagnosed with cylindrical power and he is prescribed with spectacles. He is 6 years completed. Should we have a second opinion and should we go ahead and have the spectacles made. They say its something he is born with and we are convinced on that part because of many instances we have seen it affecting him recently.

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic.

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an Ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.

I reviewed your history. It seems from the history that your son is having cylindrical power. The presence of cylindrical power indicates astigmatism.
Refractive errors are common in childhood and these require to be corrected by the use of spectacles of appropriate power.
I don't think second opinion is required for this condition.
He needs to wear the glasses regularly and need to consult eye doctor once in a year for follow up.

Hope the information is helpful to you.
Do write back to me for further questions.

Thank you
