Hi I just got a pelvic ultrasound and they found two cysts on my right ovary, And a smaller one on my left. But on my left ovary he said it had a little white spot. I was wondering what that meant. I have previously removed 2 endimitriomas on my left ovary before.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
The causes for cyst in ovary are as follows. - During menstruation a follicle grows in ovary Which breaks open to expel ovum. If a follicle does not break. It remains and grows in ovary as cyst - Sometimes the follicle breaks open after maturation to release ovum / egg. The empty sac of follicle (corpus luteum) releases hormone progesterone and perishes after certain period to induce bleeding. BUT when this does not happen, and corpus legitimate remains in ovary. It grows there as corpus letting cyst. - A dermoid cyst can also grow in ovary. - Sometimes there are multiple immature follicles collected in ovary and there is polycystic ovary syndrome.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
