What Causes Cysts Around The Liver While Having Hepatic Hemangioma?

I have been diagnosed with hepatic hemangioma and cysts around my liver, one is the size of a golf ball and the others are fingernail sized. I have an internal ultrasound scheduled tomorrow. Then an appointment with an Internist. What are the possible outcomes?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Lesions that look like simple cysts can be sometimes liver abscess or cancerous tumors. Since you are diagnosed with Hepatic hemangioma, it is important to have an internal ultrasound done to screen out any chances of malignancies because hemangioma is a benign(noncancerous) tumor made of a collection of blood vessels.

Don't worry, stay relaxed & let the investigation be done. Your treatment will depend upon the diagnosis. All cysts are not cancerous, polycystic liver disease is a condition in which there are multiple benign cysts. Let the screening be done for proper diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
