My 6 year old has developed dark areas on his forearms since summer started that look like he s been rolling in dirt. It won t scrub off and is obviously part of his skin. What is it and is there anything to worry about? We are going to Texas next week so he won t be able to avoid the sun if that s causing it.
As per your case history he may be having tanning of skin. My advice is: 1. It is better to avoid sun exposure as much as possible. 2. Use a good sunscreen lotion with SPF more than 30 -- applied once daily and repeated every 4 hourly. 3. A mild steroid lotion like Beclomethasone lotion can be applied on tanned skin once at night for faster results.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
