What Causes Dark Brown Urination?

My urine very suddenly turned a cloudy dark brown color. It has persisted without much change for about 48 hours. Originally I thought it was associated with a fruit-flavored slushie I drank shortly before it started, but it isn t clearing up. I have been drinking a lot of water for last couple days. Am I OK waiting a few days to see if it clears up? We are travelling, so my physician is not handy. Thank you.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I think you should not wait but continue to investigate it .
Some causes of brown urine are
*hepatitis or chirosis
*hemolytic anemia
*some foods as aloe, fava beans, food colouring.
*kidney disorders and infections.
You should do a urine analysis and total blood count and liver enzymes and bilirubin direct and indirect.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
