What Causes Dark Red Blood During Pregnancy?

Im 8wks pregnant. My hcg has been rising slowly. Ive had two us and it shows sac but no baby or heartbeat.. They say my cervix is fully closed and is pretty high up. I saw some dark red blood today but no cramps or anything to suggest i was miscarriage. Should i just wait a cpl weeks and c if they c something.. Im pretty heavy im 37. I do have a child who is 17 please help.

Hello dear,i understand your concern.In my opinion i suggest you to repeat the ultrasound after a week to know the status.If still there is no evidence of fetal pole or heart beat then it needs to be teminated.Such condition is called blighted ovum.So relax and wait and repeat the scan.Take folic acid supplements.Blighted ovum occurs due to unknown reasons or genetic abnormalities.
