Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Sometmes I bleed a little bit from anal fissures. Twice in the past week I have had dark reddish looking stool, with a slightly reddish tint to the water in the toilet bowl, & on both occasions I had eaten dark chocolate cake the day before. Is there a connection, or is there possibly something wrong internally that I should have checkout out?
Hello,my name is Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern. The only treatment for analysis fisure is surgery. Some advices that I can give to you are: -using over-the-counter stool softeners. -drinking more fluids. -taking fiber supplements and eating more fibrous foods, such as raw fruits and vegetables. -taking warm baths called sitz baths to relax the anal muscles, relieve irritation, and increase blood flow to the anorectal area. Hope it helps, kind regards!
